As we step into 2026, we’ve taken time to reflect on what was truly a landmark year for Winyama Contracting Group. 2025 was a year defined by growth, recognition, and a deepening commitment to our people, our partners, and our communities across the Pilbara.
Throughout the year, Winyama was honoured to receive several major industry and community awards, recognition that reflected not only strong operational performance, but the values that guide how we work.
Early in the year, Winyama was named Rio Tinto WA Supplier of the Year, a milestone that recognised the strength of our delivery, our safety culture, and the trust built with our clients.
Momentum continued at the KDCCI Business Excellence Awards, where Winyama achieved a triple win, being named Best Large Business, Indigenous Business Excellence, and celebrating Arthur Ramirez being recognised as Businessperson of the Year. These awards acknowledged leadership, culture, and the collective effort of our teams.
Our focus on inclusive and culturally safe workplaces was recognised at the CCIWA Diversity & Inclusion Awards, where Winyama was named Best Diversity & Inclusion Initiative – Medium Business. This reflected years of work creating meaningful employment pathways, particularly for Indigenous people and young people entering the workforce through partnerships with the STARS Foundation and Clontarf.
On the national stage, Winyama was honoured as a Sustainability Trailblazer at the 2025 Avetta Customer Awards, recognising our commitment to responsible operations and continuous improvement. We were also proud to be named the First Nations Business Excellence Winner at the 2025 AIM WA Pinnacle Awards, a significant recognition of leadership, culture, and impact.
But 2025 wasn’t just about awards.
It was also a year of investing in people and building the future of our workforce. We welcomed new trainees, including Braiden Irwin and Shyann McMahon-Wailu, both commencing formal training pathways into the resources and construction sectors. Their journeys represent exactly what we aim to build at Winyama: real opportunities for local people to grow long-term careers.
We continued to strengthen our workforce diversity and support Indigenous employment across our projects and teams, while also increasing female participation across the business.
Community remained at the heart of what we do. Throughout 2025, Winyama supported Ngarluma Elders, local schools, sporting clubs, cadet units, and community organisations, as well as backing initiatives like the WA Indigenous Netball Team and a range of cultural and youth programs across the Pilbara.
Operationally, our teams delivered consistently across civil, mining, precast, rail and maintenance projects, further strengthening Winyama’s reputation as a capable, trusted and values-driven contractor.
Every achievement in 2025 came back to our people.
To our crews in the field, our project and leadership teams, and our support staff behind the scenes, thank you for your commitment, professionalism and pride in what you do.
To our clients, partners and communities…thank you for the trust and collaboration.
As we move forward into 2026, we do so with momentum, humility, and a clear focus on continuing to build strong teams, strong partnerships, and strong outcomes for the Pilbara.
Here’s to continuing to walk strong, together.
