Our Vision & Mission

At Winyama Contracting Group, we’re driven by a powerful vision: to be a catalyst for positive change within our communities, with a particular focus on strengthening Aboriginal communities.

Founded in 2023, Winyama Contracting Group was born out of a shared passion for Indigenous engagement, sustainable contracting, and community development.

In the Ngarluma language, Winyama means ‘sea eagle’, and represents a skilful fish hunter that provides for its family. Often returning to the same nest for up to 30 years, they are considered local and good for Country. They are often used as spotters (for hunting purposes) to detect schools of fish, and the turning of tides by Aboriginal people.

Arthur Ramirez

Chairman and Indigenous Business Manager of Winyama Contracting Group, Arthur is a qualified and experienced mechanical fitter and a proud Ngarluma, Yinjibarndi, Nykina, and Nyul-Nyul man. He is deeply connected to the Pilbara region and has a history of providing jobs and training opportunities for Aboriginal people. Arthur’s entrepreneurial journey started in 2020, leading an all-Indigenous business that worked with Ventia and Main Roads, employing up to 40 people.

Jason Gore

A resource industry professional with over 15 years of experience, Jason has been a driving force behind high-performing teams. His passion for Indigenous engagement led to the development of a local Indigenous Engagement Plan, increasing local Indigenous business spend in the Pilbara. Jason is also passionate about technology and innovation, with a focus on renewable energy initiatives.

Ray Kaestner

With a diverse background across marine, mining, oil & gas, and construction, Ray brings a pragmatic approach to business. His 21 years of experience and international exposure have given him a unique perspective on operations and a deep appreciation for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

Justin Angove

Justin has over 30 years of experience in the oil & gas, mining, and rail sectors. He brings a wealth of knowledge in maintenance and operations, with a focus on delivering high work standards and mentoring his teams. Justin is dedicated to supporting Indigenous employment and the local community, recruiting and mentoring young adults into meaningful full-time roles.

We recognise that our office is located on Ngarluma Country (ngurra) and pay our respects to the Ngarluma people.
